ROC Breweries Magazine, Day 2
Title: ROC Breweries
What: Top Breweries around Rochester according to popularity, review, history, events and other variables. It will consist of a hypothetical ranking system. The events are important alongside the breweries.
Who: 21 and older
Overall: The elements that I will include are the Kristy typeface because it gives it a rustic and modern look in hopes of appealing to the target demographic. I will need to take pictures of local breweries, systems and social events that I don’t already have. Both in the day and night to create a variety of emotions and atmospheres that offer experiences to everyone. The purpose of the Magazine is to inform, endorse and educate the people around the Rochester area and things to do. It is more than just a small city. Rochester is a growing economy with opportunity to have responsible fun and obtain jobs. Also, to create a magnetic appeal for Rochester with design elements like precise hierarchy and placement. The color scheme is still in progress because as I take photos I am having different contrasts to mesh and make flow with the colors of the magazine.

This is my Final Product!
I believe it it gives diverse reasons why the NPS should be supported, but the diversity may confuse people if they don’t have solid knowledge before. I may not have a totally soild infographic. Does the overall type and image relationship successfully create a legible, readable, and unified representation of your information that will engage your audience? Visually it unifies the information based on colors, contrast, type using similar NPS type and it is interactive. That may be its flaw as well. -If someone was walking by your poster would they want to stop and retain the information quickly and be able to take away from it? Individuals might be curious walking by because it has a common image with different facts around. For that reason it may create some eyes to view it. The yellow creates the “caution” aspect and might indirectly cause people to slow down along with signage. I feel that I fell behind in the creative critique and lost the full benefit of them. Also, I changed my mind less because I was more decisive on my decisions. This allowed me to progress a little quicker. The research did help organize the information and help develop ideas for icons, but maybe offered too many options and open ideas or ways to take it. My organization was really based on hierarchy and how people might be interested in certain information.
Talk about critique, did you gain feedback that changed your design?
With the feedback I did get I took it into account and then asked more people to see if the same comments rose again. Then I changed or modified the element(s).
I have used Adobe Illustrator briefly before this project. I learned different ways to trace and draw better. I do wish I have learned a little more on creating my own designs rather than tracing someone else’s.
Overall, I enjoyed creating an open assignment with basic requirements. I wish I was going to take more design classes in the future to expand or edit this infographic.
“ROC BREWERIES” Magazine, Day 1
It is moving along quite well. This is the most planned out I have been for a project this semester yet. I hope everything falls into place. I really am looking forward to completing this project.
The hierarchy and contrast will be the continuing challenge for me. Organization is key for this assignment. I believe I have the spread planned out well. My tracking and leading within the typography will be key in the organization around the objects. Easy reading is my view on this. The typography was very important to me and was the majority of the focus for the beginning for this project.
I enjoyed the concept of the mood board and wish we used something like this throughout the semester.

National Park Service Infographic, Day 3
WOW!!! This has come a long way since my sketch and first critique. The contrast and depth are almost there. Certain aspects have been pointed out to help others visually see the clear message I’m trying to portray.
Visually I need more unique measurement icons that represent numbers and maybe more text to explain what somethings are more in-depth that may be confusing. I am still having difficulty with the color scheme as I have always done with previous projects. That is an area of improvement along with the creative process. I may change some aspects more or resize points. Looking at other infographics color scheme is my largest worry because I am so analytical and precise on what objects should really look like including color.
I have much work to do, but certainly need more content. Only of few more weeks left!
National Park Service Infographic, Day 2
Supporting NPS is important part of United States History because it is more than just parks. There are monuments, battlefields, monuments, etc. that have made what the nation is today. Also, this organization employs and educates thousands. It would be a large negative impact on the economy.
It was a rough start. My visual hierarchy is confusing at this stage and my logos are changing from my sketches as I go along. I have been better at following my sketches during this process than others. There is much progress to be had. The white space is still in debate after the main information placed on the project. I have to work on my color scheme better. I like to see the colors on my icons and piece before I choose the colors before. It is difficult to pick HEX codes before the project has even begun on the screen.
I am excited to see where this is going to end up. I have a lot of statistics to pull from, organizing and selecting certain information that makes sense is the challenge is the current issue.
Human Rights Article 17, FINAL
There were some bumps in the creative process. I didn’t enjoy this project as much as I have stated before, but when I get hired I will not always enjoy the projects I do. I did however enjoy the challenge I faced and chose a topic that would challenge me even more.
It does successfully advocate for Article 17, using the positive and negative space of the white background focuses the attention on certain objects. The symbols are very much so dependent on the size and balance between the two hands the hypothetical movement between the two. The contrast of color by using the outline around the keys allow the sense of layers. The spatial connection by not connecting lines assumes an object.
It struggles with unification because it is so, symbolic, gesture and relies heavily of prior knowledge of the Article. The text is quite small, but people can realize that there is text there and move closer to read it.
I chose this design because it demonstrates the transfer society is going through and needs to go through. A non-English speaker may not get this poster as I struggled with the topic, but I chose it to challenge me. I did not research similar posters, but I did research similar concepts that used gestures. I did not go through the first critique, but I did do the process critque. critique was very helpful if people kept an open mind.

CREATIVE BRIEF
Advocacy: Protect/Save/Rescue/ National Parks
Audience: America (visitors)
Subject Matter: Infographic
Why Important: National Parks hold of United States history. Also, preserving and respecting the National Park Service at 1916, Organic Act 1900 and Antiquities Act 1906, these would be highlighted within the infographic. Some other areas to highlight are the parks employ thousands of people and volunteers, creates a safe haven for wildlife and helps educate the youth. This is relevant because of the recent political issue and election of President Donald Trump. One of his addressing topics is cutting funding and support to the National Park Service. NPS also support numerous environmental rebuilding plans.
Concept/Plan: The message and concept I am trying to portray is creating a clear message through basic design basic shapes, symbols and colors that resemble the parks and places. Less is more for this infographic. A grid will not entirely be necessary, but organize in the order of importance and use spacing. Hierarchy of icons will be placed and ranked by relevance. Also, the icons and typography will be justified not only horizontally and vertically, but diagonally too. The proportional and scaling of the National Park icon will be varied by the other information around the map and terrain. The colors would be contrasting each other and will define each element, but will also give a sense of size to certain objects without changing the scale. So, my plan is to create a target shape around the unique important facts. The outer portion will be common facts and figures with charts and symbols. There will be at least one sign or signage to pull the whole piece together.
AFTER THE READING I HAVE CHANGE MY APPROACH
My audience will be more targeted towards political and fund-raising demographic. The icons will be designed to show a budget within the NPS. So, money, awards and elements that funds go to help the National Parks. This will give me more of a specific audience and help organize my infographic even more.
